BLACK PC port 0.2.0: Criterion's 2006 Xbox shooter runs native on Windows at 4K and 60 fps
Spark198rus has released an unofficial native Windows port of BLACK (Criterion Games, 2006), built from the original NTSC-U Xbox version. black.exe loads your own default.xbe and runs the original x86 game code directly on PC. The developer calls it fully playable, with any render resolution up to 4K and beyond, anti-aliasing, 16:9 widescreen, adjustable FOV, 60 fps by default, mouse look, key binding, XInput, borderless fullscreen and fixes for seams and blur artifacts the Xbox's low resolution hid. Version 0.2.0 went up on Oct 14, the day the repo was created.
You need: Your own NTSC-U Xbox disc of BLACK, dumped and extracted. Other regions and builds are not supported. Windows 10/11 and a Direct3D 9 (SM3) GPU. No game code or data is included.
How to play
- Dump your NTSC-U disc to ISO, extract it with extract-xiso and rename the folder to game.
- Download the release zip and extract it so the port folder sits beside game.
- Run port\black.exe.
