NEW CLAUDE CODE SKILLS PACK HELPS FANS BUILD BYTE-MATCHING GAME DECOMPILATIONS
Game Decompilation Skill: Claude Code skills for byte-matching game decomps

lemiur has released a set of Claude Code skills for matching decompilation, the slow work of rewriting a game's machine code as C that compiles back to the exact same bytes (the method behind the Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time decomps). An orchestrator plans work and runs parallel matcher workers in separate git worktrees, then merges their results through a fixed procedure; helper skills explain why a function won't match, recover inlined helpers and macros, try register and scheduling permutations, and enforce a code-rules catalogue that defines what counts as a real match rather than a fake one. The skills aren't tied to any game: each decomp repo supplies its own commands through an AGENTS.md file. It brings no compiler or toolchain, so you need an existing matching-decomp setup. It passed 100 GitHub stars within a day.
You need: Claude Code, plus an existing matching-decompilation toolchain for your game (original compiler, linker and a byte-compare build). No game code is included.
How to play
- Copy the .claude/skills folder into your decomp repo (or ~/.claude/skills).
- Add an AGENTS.md describing your project's build and compare commands.
- Ask Claude why a function won't match, or run /matcher directly.
