decomp.dev stops taking new projects, saying AI misuse has broken the community side of decompilation
decomp.dev, the progress tracker and leaderboard that many game decompilation projects report to, is winding down. Its sole volunteer admin, encounter, has closed the main index to new projects and says the site will only keep serving existing project pages and historical data. The statement says AI can help when used properly, but that bad actors have forked in-progress human-led projects and 'finished' them with AI, and that the leaderboard had become a hollow numbers game that now does more harm than good. AI-assisted projects aren't banned. VGC, Time Extension and Kotaku covered the announcement.
