MASHUP: STAR WARS DOGFIGHTS ON FREESPACE'S ENGINE GO NATIVE ON META QUEST 3
Fate of the Galaxy VR

Fate of the Galaxy is a free fan-made total conversion that rebuilds Original Trilogy Star Wars starfighter combat on the FreeSpace Open engine, with Rebel, Imperial and smuggler campaigns. SgtBilko76's Fate of the Galaxy VR runs it natively on standalone headsets through OpenXR on OpenGL ES, with stereo 3D and full 3D cockpits. v0.3.1-beta landed on Nov 3 with a One-Tap Installer: install the APK, start it, and it downloads the free game data itself (2.6 GB, 4.6 GB on the headset). It also fixes multiplayer, which failed to start on the headset before. Meta Quest 3 is the tested headset; the creator lists Quest 2, 3S, Pro, PICO 4 and Neo 3 as untested. FreeSpace 2 isn't needed.
You need: A Meta Quest 3 (other Quest and PICO headsets are untested), sideloading with SideQuest or adb, Wi-Fi and about 7 GB free. It's free: you don't need a copy of FreeSpace 2.
How to play
- Sideload the APK with SideQuest or adb install -r -g.
- Start it from Unknown Sources and grant file access.
- Press Download and install. The creator says it takes about 15 to 30 minutes and resumes if interrupted.
