Gen1Recomp v0.3.88: native LÖVE2D rebuild of eleven Pokémon games from Red to Emerald
bryanthaboi's G1R Deluxe, aka Gen1Recomp, is a hand-written Lua/LÖVE2D recreation of Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. Game data and graphics are decoded from a ROM you supply. The project began in July as a Gen 1 rebuild and has grown to cover three generations. It shipped three releases on Oct 14 alone, ending at v0.3.88, and has nearly 4,000 stars. The README links an AI-use disclosure, and Polygon has covered the project. Warning: the developer says gen1recomp[.]com is NOT theirs and is now serving adware. The only official sources are the GitHub repo, the Discord and gen1re.com.
You need: A ROM dumped from your own cartridge. No game data is included. Download only from GitHub releases; avoid the impostor site gen1recomp[.]com.
