METAL GEAR SOLID 2 HD RETURNS TO MODERN ANDROID PHONES WITH A NATIVE 64-BIT RECOMP

Metal Gear Solid 2 HD (NVIDIA SHIELD) recompiled to 64-bit for modern Android phones

Metal Gear Solid 2 HD (NVIDIA SHIELD) recompiled to 64-bit for modern Android phones

The NVIDIA SHIELD TV release of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD is a 32-bit ARM app, and new phone chips like the Snapdragon 8 Elite can't run 32-bit code at all. luisxl15's project statically recompiles the game's roughly 22,000 functions from ARM32 to ARM64, with its own runtime standing in for the SHIELD system. It has separate builds for Adreno and Mali GPUs, on-screen controls, controller support and menus in 7 languages. It's been tested on a Galaxy S25+ at 60 fps and on a budget Redmi 13C. Beta 3 shipped Oct 24.

You need: Your own SHIELD TV copy of MGS2 HD (version 21.21.1219.GM): base.apk plus its two OBB files copied from your own SHIELD. About 12 GB free space and a 64-bit Android 8+ phone. No game files are included.

How to play NVIDIA SHIELD TV on PC

  1. Copy base.apk and the two OBB files from your own SHIELD TV, as the README shows.
  2. Download the APK for your GPU (Adreno or Mali) from the releases page.
  3. Install it, point it at your files and let it extract them on first launch.
