GOD OF WAR II PLAYED START TO FINISH ON PC AS A NATIVE PROGRAM, NO PS2 EMULATOR

ps2-native-recomp: God of War II played start to finish as a native Windows program from your own PS2 disc

exoteric33's ps2-native-recomp turns the disc image of a PS2 game you own into a native program for Windows or Linux by static recompilation: the main CPU's code is translated once into C++ and compiled, while the graphics chip, vector units, sound, disc, controller and memory card are reimplemented by a runtime that draws through Direct3D 12 or Vulkan (WebGPU via wgpu-native). Per the README, a playtester has played God of War II from start to end on Windows with a controller, and God of War, Gran Turismo 4, Resident Evil 4, Silent Hill 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Tekken 4, God Hand and The King of Fighters XI play well so far. It includes a player app (pick a disc image, press Build, press Play) that fetches its own build tools, translates unseen code in the background while you play, and can apply PCSX2 community patches such as widescreen. It builds on Samir Nuri's ps2-web-recomp (MIT), already on the wire, which does the same for Linux, macOS and the browser. The creator calls it early-stage: many games still stop at a black screen or crash, and playtesters are wanted.

You need: Windows or Linux PC with a Direct3D 12 or Vulkan GPU, and a disc image you made from your own PS2 disc (US releases tested). No game files are included. Early stage: many games don't work yet.

How to play

1. Get the project from its GitHub page and open the player app as the README describes.
2. Choose your own PS2 disc image, press Build (it downloads its own build tools), then press Play.
3. Report how far your game gets; the creator is asking for playtesters.
