MASHUP TOOLKIT: REWRITE-BRIDGE GIVES MODDERS ONE WAY TO LINK TWO RUNNING GAMES
rewrite-bridge: an open protocol for linking two running games, and for reading one game's files into another engine

rewrite-bridge, by patodois, is an open-source toolkit for the two kinds of project that keep turning up on this wire: game rewrites, which run an existing game on a new engine from the player's own files, and passthrough mashups, where two running games share one world. It offers one set of model, animation and scene types, a reader interface for each game's formats, and a small protocol that shares players, poses, spawns, collision, camera and depth frames between two games on one machine. The docs give a working loop in Rust, C, C# and Java and a way to test with no second game. The README lists readers for War Thunder, Warframe, Hytale and Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster, plus a host and guest mod for Minecraft: Java Edition. Version 0.3.0 is on crates.io. Added as a library pick for mod makers: it's a tool for developers, not something to play.
You need: Developer tool. Requires Rust or the C single-header library. It ships no game data: readers work from the copy of a game you already own.
How to play
- Read docs/INTEGRATING.md to see whether you need a host, a guest or a provider.
- Add the rewrite-bridge crate to your project, or use the link-c header from C.
- Test your side with the included testbed before connecting a second game.
