SM64 Generations: play Sonic Generations as Super Mario 64's Mario, with his full moveset
Sonic modder Skyth's SM64 Generations puts Mario from Super Mario 64 into Sonic Generations on PC, with the exact controls and moveset of the 1996 game: jumps, punches, kicks, swimming and the Wing Cap. It works for both Classic and Modern Sonic stages. Skyth revealed it on 1 April 2022, so many people took it for a joke until the download went up. It has passed 23,000 downloads on GameBanana. The mod contains no Mario 64 assets: on first boot it asks for your own NTSC-U Super Mario 64 ROM. Not every stage can be finished because some loops need dash panels, so a 100% save is recommended.
You need: Your own copy of Sonic Generations (PC) plus your own NTSC-U Super Mario 64 ROM (check the MD5/SHA-1 on the mod page). No Mario 64 assets are included.
How to play
- Download the latest file from Skyth's GameBanana page and install it with Hedge Mod Manager.
- Start Sonic Generations and select your own Super Mario 64 ROM when asked.
- Play any stage as Mario (a 100% save is recommended).
