Sonic the Hedgehog joins Risk of Rain 2 as a playable survivor
ds_gaming's SonicTheHedgehog mod adds Sonic to Risk of Rain 2 as a full playable survivor with his own moves, not a skin. He has a Momentum passive (faster running downhill, slower uphill), a five-hit melee combo that turns into a Homing Attack on distant enemies, Sonic Boom shockwaves, a Boost meter with a mid-air dash, and Grand Slam. It first came out in July 2023 and is still maintained: v5.0.3 landed on Oct 16, 2026. It's one of the most-downloaded character mods on Thunderstore, with about 565,000 downloads.
You need: Your own copy of Risk of Rain 2 on PC, plus BepInEx and R2API (a mod manager such as r2modman installs them for you).
How to play
- Install a Thunderstore mod manager (r2modman) and pick Risk of Rain 2.
- Search SonicTheHedgehog by ds_gaming and install it with its dependencies.
- Launch modded and pick Sonic on the survivor select screen.
