SPORE GETS ONLINE CO-OP: FRIENDS CAN NOW PLAY EVERY STAGE TOGETHER
SporeCoop: a free mod that lets 2 to 4 friends play all of Spore together in one shared world, v0.7.10.1 out
WoodyWizard's SporeCoop adds multiplayer to Maxis's 2008 evolution game Spore. Two to four players share the host's world, each with their own creature, cell or spaceship from My Creations, from the tide pool through to the galaxy. Every stage has co-op moves: revive a knocked-out cell, hunt as a pack, besiege a city from two sides, repair a partner's ship. A Co-op item sits in Spore's own galaxy menu, editors and stage changes go to a vote, and guests keep the host's world in a separate save slot. It works with Spore Galactic Adventures on GOG and Steam, on Windows and Linux. The repo went up on 22 October and has shipped three releases in the last day; v0.7.10.1 landed on 8 November.
You need: Your own PC copy of Spore with Galactic Adventures (GOG or Steam), on Windows or Linux. Friends each need their own copy. The mod ships no game files.
How to play
- Download SporeCoopSetup.exe (or the zip) from the creator's GitHub releases page.
- Install it into your Spore Galactic Adventures folder and start the game.
- Pick Co-op in the galaxy menu (or press F9), host or join, and evolve together.
