JOHTO ON ONE SCREEN: POKÉMON SOULSILVER RECOMPILED NATIVE WITH WIDESCREEN BATTLES

ssrecomp v0.2.6: Pokémon SoulSilver statically recompiled for single-screen PCs and handhelds

ssrecomp v0.2.6: Pokémon SoulSilver statically recompiled for single-screen PCs and handhelds

ClickingMaster's ssrecomp is a native build of Pokémon SoulSilver for single-screen devices. The DS game's ARM9 code is statically recompiled to C++ from the build output of pret's pokeheartgold decompilation, while a vendored melonDS core handles graphics, sound, saves and the ARM7. The overworld is drawn across a 16:9 screen and battles get touch-screen buttons; v0.2.6 (Oct 16, prerelease) fixes controllers after v0.2.5 added widescreen battles. The README says it was made with heavy use of AI (Claude Code) and warns not to submit any of it to pret. It follows Gen2Recomp, the Lua rebuild of Gold, Silver and Crystal already on the wire.

You need: Your own Pokémon SoulSilver cartridge, dumped, and your own build of pret/pokeheartgold. The repo ships no game code or data; the game-specific code is generated on your machine.

How to play Pokémon SoulSilver on PC

  1. Build pokeheartgold from your own SoulSilver dump.
  2. Follow the README's Building section to generate and compile ssrecomp.
  3. Or check the Releases page for the latest prerelease notes.
