centollOS has released SwitchWakerHD v0.4.7, an unofficial native port of the Wii U's The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD to the Nintendo Switch as homebrew. The game's PowerPC code is translated to C ahead of time by a static recompiler, the Cafe OS libraries it uses are reimplemented natively, and its graphics are drawn with deko3d, the Switch's own GPU API, so there is no CPU or GPU emulation. It builds on ZeldaWWHDRecomp, the existing recompilation for Windows, macOS, Linux and Android, and needs your own version-0 USA or European dump. The repo contains no game code, assets or keys.

Wii U → Switch (homebrew) · by centollOS · 2026-10-14

You need: Your own Wii U dump of The Wind Waker HD (USA 00050000-10143500 or EU 00050000-10143600, version 0, no update), plus a Switch that can run homebrew. Safety: running homebrew means modding your Switch, which can get it banned from Nintendo's online services.

How to play The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD on PC

  1. Download the latest SwitchWakerHD release.
  2. Follow the README to build the NRO from your own version-0 Wii U dump.
  3. Copy it to your Switch's SD card and launch it from the homebrew menu.
