NoRain211's DOAXVB-RE lifts the original Xbox executable to C with a static recompiler and links it to a hand-written runtime that swaps the Xbox kernel, Direct3D 8 and DirectSound calls for native ones, with builds for Windows, macOS and Linux. The author calls it fully playable since 0.4: every stage, the Casino, Hotel and Shops, and saving all work. 0.6.0 Beta (Oct 27) drops the Visual Studio requirement on Windows, rebuilds the launcher in the style of the game's island menus and adds opt-in sun shadows, per-pixel lighting and a free camera. The long-term plan is to rewrite the game into readable source one piece at a time. The same author is also working on a Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate port.
