HALO: COMBAT EVOLVED GOES NATIVE ON PC, LINUX AND ANDROID WITH 128-PLAYER ONLINE
OpenCE: Halo: Combat Evolved (original Xbox) runs natively on Windows, Linux, Android and in the browser

OpenCE (Open Community Edition) is an open-source port of the original Xbox Halo: Combat Evolved, built on a community decompilation of the game's code rather than an emulator. The game's own code is compiled for each platform, with a new layer standing in for the Xbox hardware. It runs on Windows, Linux, Android and in a web browser, with cross-play between all of them, up to 128 players, online campaign co-op, four-player split screen, a server browser, peer-to-peer hosting, voice chat, field-of-view settings and support for Custom Edition maps. A macOS build is in progress. New builds ship several times a day: build 273 landed on 24 October, and the project has passed 1,700 GitHub stars in under a month. It also powers community ports to Vita and Anbernic handhelds. It follows halo-re, the separate research effort to rebuild Halo CE from scratch.
You need: Your own Xbox disc image (.iso or .xiso) of Halo: Combat Evolved; any version works. No game data is included. In the browser, the maps are copied from your own disc image into local storage and nothing is uploaded.
