Burnout 3: Takedown original Xbox recomp ships a one-click Windows installer (v0.1.0)
sp00nznet's Burnout 3 is a static recompilation of the original Xbox game: the toolkit xboxrecomp lifts the game's own x86 code to C, and it boots through the real entry point to run Criterion's own menus, races and renderer. Version 0.1.0 is a Windows installer that builds the recomp on your PC from your own disc image (one to two hours, about 12 GB). Every mode plays, including two-player split-screen Road Rage, Double Impact and 2–8 player Party Crash, but it is alpha: the Xbox GPU is emulated in software, so menus run at about 14 fps and races at 2–4 fps, and there is no save profile yet. It is a rival to Takedawn, the other Burnout 3 Xbox recomp already on the wire.
You need: Your own original Xbox disc image of Burnout 3: Takedown. No game data is downloaded or bundled. Races are not yet playable at full speed.
How to play Burnout 3: Takedown on PC
- Download Burnout3-Installer-windows-x64.exe from the releases page.
- Point it at your own Burnout 3 .iso (or unpacked disc) and press Build my recomp.
- Wait for the build (1–2 hours), then press Play.
