Virtastic's d2-web reimplements the Diablo II 1.13c engine in C++ and compiles it to WebAssembly, so Diablo II: Lord of Destruction plays in a desktop Chromium browser. It ships no Blizzard files at all: no art, sound, text, maps or programs. You point it at the .mpq files from your own Diablo II install and it reads them from there. You can play at the creator's site, host it yourself with Docker, or build it from source. The project went public on 29 October 2026 and is still being updated almost every day.
