FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS GETS A MATCHING DECOMPILATION, REBUILT FUNCTION BY FUNCTION
Fallout: New Vegas decompilation goes public on GitHub, rebuilt to the same bytes as the Steam release
momusdigital's FNV decompilation rebuilds Fallout: New Vegas, the Steam PC release (version 1.4.0.525), as C++ source code, one function at a time. It is built with the same Microsoft compilers the game was built with, and every function it lists so far compiles to exactly the same bytes as the original executable. The project started on fnvdecomp.com, where a frozen copy of the community effort stays online; the GitHub repo is where it continues, and it passed 170 stars in its first days. It is meant for the modding community that has kept New Vegas alive for over a decade, for research, modding and preservation. It is source only: no game files, assets or executables, and nothing you can play yet. Anyone can help: much of what is left is giving placeholder functions real names, and every pull request has to pass an automatic check that rebuilds the changed code and confirms the output is still byte-for-byte identical.
You need: Your own Steam copy of Fallout: New Vegas (version 1.4.0.525) to use any of it. The repo is source code only: no game files, assets or executables.
