STAR WARS TRILOGY ARCADE GOES NATIVE ON PC WITH RAY-TRACED SHADOWS AND TRUE WIDESCREEN
Star Wars Trilogy Native: Sega's 1998 arcade game recompiled for PC

snicolast has published Star Wars Trilogy Native, a PC port of Sega's 1998 arcade rail shooter. It isn't an emulator: the original code is recompiled to C++ and drawn by a modern Vulkan renderer. The README lists true 16:9 and 21:9 widescreen, ray-traced sun shadows and ambient occlusion, bloom and HDR lighting, MSAA or NVIDIA DLAA, and smooth motion at 120 or 144 Hz and above, with the 3D drawn between the game's own frames. Space is redrawn with a deep star field, and the Death Star gets film-style lighting. Sound is the arcade original, including the Digital Sound Board's music and voices. You can play with mouse, gamepad (gyro too) or light gun, and the cabinet's force feedback becomes rumble. There are achievements and quality presets, and a new Dogfight mode is listed as coming soon. There's no ready-made download: the install script builds the game on your PC from your own ROM set. It's the second Sega Model 3 game on the wire after the Virtua Fighter 3 recomp.
You need: Your own copy of the arcade ROM set swtrilgy.zip (Rev. A), which must include epr-21119.ic8; other versions won't work. Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and a GPU with a Vulkan 1.3 driver. The install script fetches Python 3 and the Visual Studio C++ build tools, a few GB. Nothing from the ROM is in the repo.
How to play Star Wars Trilogy Arcade on PC
- Download the repo as a ZIP from GitHub and unzip it.
- Put your own swtrilgy.zip in the folder and run install.bat.
