ULTIMA VII IS DECOMPILED, AND BOTH GAMES NOW RUN NATIVELY ON MODERN PCS
Ultima 7 Decompile: Black Gate and Serpent Isle decompiled byte-for-byte, with native ports for modern PCs

Kitrinx's Ultima 7 Decompile is an AI-assisted decompilation of Ultima VII: The Black Gate and Ultima VII Part Two: Serpent Isle, tested to produce byte-exact results with Borland C++ 2.0, the compiler Origin originally used. Most names are inferred; much of the original assembly is kept as it was. Two playable builds come out of it. Ultima 7 Portable cleans up the code just enough to run each game on modern machines as a drop-in replacement, with MT-32 (via Munt, using your own ROMs) or OPL3 sound. Ultima 7 Modern runs both games on the Serpent Isle engine, bringing its bug fixes and quality-of-life changes to The Black Gate, with 16:9 and 16:10 views and Grant Chapman's paperdoll art used with permission. v0.5.1 landed on 24 October for Windows, macOS (Apple silicon) and Linux. It joins the long-running Exult engine as a way to play these games today.
You need: Your own copy of Ultima VII: The Black Gate and/or Serpent Isle (for example the GOG Ultima 7 Complete). MT-32 ROMs are optional and must be your own. No game data is included.
