PS3 CULT CLASSIC FOLKLORE IS NOW A NATIVE PC GAME, NO EMULATOR
Folklore (PS3) recompiled to a native Windows PC game
Mava-b's folklore-decomp statically recompiles Game Republic's 2007 PS3 exclusive Folklore into native x86-64 Windows code using sp00nznet's ps3recomp toolkit, with Direct3D 12 graphics. There is no emulator: the game's PowerPC and SPU code is translated to C++ and runs on a stand-in for the PS3's OS. v0.2 (21 October) reimplements the SPURS job system the game relies on, so no PS3 firmware is needed any more. The author reports it boots, installs and plays, including capturing Folks with the original motion controls, and adds 60 fps or unlocked frame rate, up to 3x resolution, ultrawide and save backups. Expect rough edges. The repo contains no game or Sony code.
You need: A Windows PC and your own North American Folklore disc (BCUS98147, v1.00) plus its decrypted EBOOT. You build the game yourself; nothing from the game is included.
How to play Folklore on PC
- Read the README's requirements and download the v0.2 release.
- Provide the decrypted EBOOT from your own BCUS98147 v1.00 disc; setup translates it on your PC.
- Launch the built game and set frame rate, resolution and ultrawide in its options.
