POKÉMON POKOPIA GETS A SECOND NATIVE PC PORT, AND THIS ONE HAS MULTIPLAYER
Recompia: Pokémon Pokopia recompiled to run natively on Windows, now with local multiplayer, v0.7.8 out
A second native PC port of Pokémon Pokopia has landed, days after drakolordx7's switch2-recomp put the Switch 2 game on Windows first. featureJosh's Recompia recompiles the game's code ahead of time for your PC, with a launcher that takes your own dump (a folder or a single .nup file), checks it and builds the game on your machine in about seven minutes. Its big extra is Link Play: friends can visit each other's islands over a local connection (Nintendo's online service doesn't work). It also runs through Proton on SteamOS, where players report about 26 to 53 fps on a Steam Deck, and it supports text and texture mods layered over the game. The repo went up on 2 November and has shipped fast: v0.7.7 and v0.7.8 both landed on 7 November. The creator says it is built mostly with AI, with every commit reviewed and tested by hand.
You need: Your own extracted copy of Pokémon Pokopia, version 2.0.1a (base plus update). No game files, keys or dumping tools are included. Windows 64-bit, or Linux/SteamOS.
How to play Pokémon Pokopia on PC
- Download the zip from the creator's GitHub releases page and extract it anywhere.
- Run PokopiaLauncher.exe, pick your dump folder and press Set up (it builds the game in about 7 minutes).
- Press play; for Link Play, open the PC in your first house and choose Local connection.
