A SECOND DEMON'S SOULS PC PORT ARRIVES, AND THE WHOLE GAME SEEMS PLAYABLE
A second Demon's Souls native PC port arrives, and its maker says the whole game seems playable

timboat's Demon's Souls native PC port turns the 2009 PS3 original (US, BLUS-30443) into a normal Windows x64 program by statically recompiling the game's PowerPC (PPU) and SPU code to C/C++ with sp00nznet's ps3recomp, plus a PS3 runtime and a Direct3D 12 renderer. The README says the entire game seems playable, with sound and music at 60 fps (or 30, uncapped or a rate you pick), keyboard and mouse or an Xbox controller. Intro movies are skipped and there is no online play. The maker is playing through the whole game to remove remaining stutters, and the dev log already lists 50 fixes. There is no ready-made download: setup reads your own disc image and builds everything on your PC, using RPCS3 once to decrypt the game's EBOOT.BIN. It is a separate project from JonathanDC64's Demon's Souls Recomp, which we covered on 25 October and which was playable through 1-1 at the time.
You need: Your own US PS3 disc image of Demon's Souls (BLUS-30443; an encrypted Redump image also needs its disc key), Windows 10/11 x64, a Direct3D 12 GPU, about 12 GB of free disk space, RPCS3 (used once to decrypt EBOOT.BIN), Python 3.10+ and Git. No game files are included.
How to play Demon's Souls on PC
- Read the What you need section of the README and gather your disc image, RPCS3, Python and Git.
- Run the setup, point it at your own disc image and let it build the port on your PC.
- Launch the game; press F8 when a stutter happens and run REPORT.bat to send a report.
