bassobr's Far Cry Instincts Recomp is a new native Windows port of the original Xbox game, and a rival to VinceIP's fci-recomp, already on our list. Its release carries nothing from the game: on first start the bundled recompiler and compiler turn your own default.xbe into a native library, in about a minute on a current desktop PC or about 6 minutes on a Steam Deck. Graphics run on Direct3D 11, with widescreen, MSAA up to 8x, ambient occlusion, shadow maps up to 8192x8192, unlocked frame rates and HDR10 output. It takes up to four controllers with split screen, plus keyboard and raw mouse look for player 1. It first released on 6 November and reached v0.1.7 on 7 November, which fixes blocky, choppy water in every water setting. The creator credits SCDA-XBERecomp by TGP482 and Joshhhuaaa as its basis. Known gaps: the Map Editor isn't included, HDR hasn't yet been checked on a physical HDR display, and mouse look is untested on boats, the glider and mounted guns.
