SUPER MARIO SUNSHINE NOW RUNS NATIVELY ON THE NEW 3DS, START TO FINAL BOWSER FIGHT
Super Mario Sunshine gets a native New Nintendo 3DS port, v0.1.2-beta
ikevik's sms-3ds is a native port of the GameCube's Super Mario Sunshine (USA, GMSE01) to the New Nintendo 3DS: the decompiled game code is compiled for the 3DS's ARM CPU, the GameCube's GX graphics are translated to the PICA200 GPU, and sound runs on the 3DS DSP. Per the README the whole game is playable from the opening to the final Bowser fight on New 3DS, New 3DS XL and New 2DS XL, with music, movies and memory-card saves on the SD card. Delfino Plaza mostly holds the game's own 30 fps cap; the slowest moments dip to around 24, and the final Bowser fight is slower. The original 3DS is not supported. Each release ships a homebrew build and a CIA builder; v0.1.2-beta came out Oct 27. No game data, art or music is included.
You need: A New 3DS, New 3DS XL or New 2DS XL with custom firmware (Luma3DS), your own Super Mario Sunshine USA (GMSE01) disc image as a plain .iso, and for sound your own DSP firmware dump. No game files are included.
How to play Super Mario Sunshine on PC
- Download the sms3ds zip (or the CIA builder) from Releases.
- Copy it to your SD card and put your own GMSE01 .iso where the README says.
- Launch from the Homebrew Launcher, or install the CIA and start it from the HOME Menu.
