APE ESCAPE GETS RECOMPILED INTO A NATIVE PC GAME
Ape Escape (PS1) statically recompiled to a native PC game, v0.5.3 preview out

mstan's ApeEscapeRecomp machine-translates Ape Escape's MIPS code ahead of time into C and builds a real Windows program with PSXRecomp, the same framework behind TombaRecomp (already on our wire) and Mega Man X6 Recomp. It boots from the PS1 BIOS (the open-source OpenBIOS is bundled) and plays through the intro, title and levels with full dual-analog control, including L3/R3, OpenGL or software rendering and working memory-card saves. The author calls it an in-development preview that hasn't been verified to the end yet. v0.5.3 landed Oct 27.
You need: Your own Ape Escape (USA, SCUS-94423) disc image. A retail PS1 BIOS is optional. Windows PC. Expect rough edges.
