ACE COMBAT 5 FLIES NATIVE ON PC: PS2 CLASSIC RECOMPILED WITH A NEW RENDERER
Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War recompiled for Windows with a native renderer

sal063's static recompilation turns the PS2's Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War (NTSC-U) into a normal Windows program. A Python tool translates every function of the game's executable into C ahead of time, and a runtime stands in for the rest of the console: the GS through Vulkan, the vector units, SPU2 audio, movie playback, memory cards and controllers. Version 3.0, released 24 October, goes further than most PS2 recomps: the aircraft, cockpit, terrain, sky and clouds are drawn as real GPU meshes with mipmapped textures and anisotropic filtering, and the flight HUD, radar and radio captions render sharp at your window's resolution. Menus, the hangar and some effects still go through the emulated GS. The creator says the game is fully playable. It builds on the PS2Recomp approach that also powers ports like Ratchet & Clank's rac1-native.
You need: Your own NTSC-U copy of Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War for PS2. No game code or assets are included; the C code is generated from your copy on your PC.
